Fall is the best time of the year! Pumpkin Pie is my all-time favorite dessert I just couldn’t help turning it into some decorative garland this year!
Living in Florida, fall just isn’t the same. There are no bonfires, hot chocolate is sipped indoors in the air conditioning and boots are seriously impractical, but we wear them anyways.
Since we don’t have an actual fall season here, I tend to overcompensate with my home decor. I start early, probably too early but it makes me happy and that’s all that really matters.
My poor husband indulges my decorating but does give me the side-eye as he watches me drag in bag after bag of fall gloriousness. So, while I can’t say I will completely give up the hunt for the perfect fall decor items at my favorite stores, I am making an effort to do a few DIY projects this year as well.
My husband also gives me the side-eye when I mention DIY projects. He says I spend more on the supplies for the said project then I would have spent if I had just bought something already made.
This year, I plan to prove him wrong.
This DIY Pumpkin Pie Garland is both seriously adorable, fairly easy and SUPER cheap! Win, Win, Win!

I get most of my craft supplies from Hobby Lobby but have included links to similar items found on Amazon if you do not have a craft store near you. The prices listed are what I paid at Hobby Lobby, and some items I already had on hand.

1 Tan Felt Sheet – $0.33 each

White Pom Poms – $1.99 per bag
Hot Glue Gun
Rotary Cutter*
*Not totally necessary but it will save your poor hands from cramping up!
Assembling your Pumpkin Pie Garland.
First, you want to cut out your pie slices.
I’ve provided two templates for you to use. One is a printable template and the other is a Cricut project template.
If you use a Cricut to complete this project please note that you need to use a backing of some sort to stabilize the felt.
Once your pie slices are cut you will cut your crust pieces. This is where the rotary cutter will come in handy. You will cut the entire sheet into 1/2 inch strips lengthwise.
Finally, you will begin to assemble your pies.
For the basketweaving slices, you should start by placing a small dot of glue at the top of each weave, then weave in the side pieces. Once your weave is complete add additional glue to keep everything secure.
Cut the extra weave overhang and then move into the crust. You will need one full-length piece for each crust.
For the cool whip slices, you simply need to add the crust, then place a single white pom-pom in the center.
Once all your pie pieces are assembled attach them to your baker’s twine with small glue dots on the back.
Viola!
Perfectly adorable DIY Pumpkin Pie Garland! Cost less than $3!
